‘The Family Upstairs’ is the second book I have read from Lisa Jewell, and it was incredible. I love Lisa’s books and have signed up to a book subscription with @Bertsbooks so that I can collect all the books she has released.
This book is set in Chelsea, London and follows Libby Jones as she finds out she has inherited a mansion. She discovers her unexpected curiosity to find out about her past and her birth parents.
Libby explores the mansion and tries to learn as much as she can about its mysterious history and past inhabitants. Discovering that twenty-five years ago three adults were found dead in the kitchen with a baby in a cot upstairs well looked after, only makes her even more interested.
The story is full of shocking and disturbing secrets, twists and turns and keeps you enthralled throughout.
This novel was amazing! It had a creepy feel to the storyline and some of the characters. Sometimes it felt like it was going to be a ghost story. I loved it, my best Lisa Jewell book so far. Looking forward to reading more.
Overall, a mysterious, gripping and amazing thriller that you just can’t put down.
