Final Cut – S J Watson

I received ‘Final Cut’ by S J Watson as part of my crime/thriller subscription from @Bertsbooks. This was in my first subscription package from Berts Book. I had signed up for this after hearing a lot of great comments on twitter. This was a great choice, as I have found to always be the case every month.

This book is set in Blackwood Bay, a little village in the North of England. It follows Alex, a documentary filmmaker.

After the disappearance of two local teenagers, Alex decides to go to the village and produce a documentary by using excerpts from the villagers themselves.

The occupants of the village are sceptical of her intentions, but as she investigates further finds the secrets and lies that make the village so mysterious.

I read this back in March and really enjoyed reading, you get to learn more about Alex as you go through the book and about her past. The secrets Alex uncovers are shocking and keep you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, a mysterious, exciting thriller showing that even the smallest of villages have their secrets.
