I received a gifted copy of ‘Running in the Shadows (Book 1)’ by Faith Blakely directly from the author in return for my honest review. I signed up to the authors ARC mailing list, and after reading this first book, I am really glad I did.
This book follows Nina Simmons, who has been on the run from her abusive ex-husband for the last three years.
Every time she feels he may be catching up with her, she must change her appearance, identity, and location.
Nina arrives at her latest new town, Deep Ridge Bay. She checks into Deep Ridge Cabins, and she feels a weight lifted.
Meeting the family that own the cabins and a local man she feels even more in love with the place. Will this be her new forever home?
I loved reading this, the story is beautifully written and displays Nina’s feelings and anxieties in a relatable way.
Although this is only the first book in the series, I felt drawn to Nina, and just want to find out even more about how her story will develop.
The characters Nina is introduced to all seem welcoming and the town itself seems beautiful. I live by the coast myself, but this place sounds amazing. A perfect place for a new start.
I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
Overall, a beautifully written story of a woman trying to find a new place to call home.
