Utterly gripping crime fiction…

A householder who is clearing out the loft comes across a carefully concealed box containing a video camera.

When he plugs it in, unsure due to its age that it will even play, what he sees there has him immediately calling the police.

Senior Sergeant Veronika Pope and her team in the Special Crime Squad study the footage of the torture of four individuals held captive, all physically and mentally abused.

Assured this is no hoax, although all indications are that this happened long in the past, the team races to trace the identity of the victims.

Someone got away with murder once, will Sergeant Pope permit them to do so again?

THE FAMILY MAN is a gripping suspense thriller with a creepy edge.

My Review:

I received a gifted E-Book copy of ‘The Family Man’ by Anna Willett from Henry Roi PR in return for my honest review. This review is part of the blog tour with Blackthorn Book Tours, thank you for the copy and the spot on the tour.

This book follows Detective Senior Sergeant Veronika Pope as she works on a new case.

A video camera is found in the attic of a house, and the footage found is shocking and disturbing.

The previous owner of the house is the main suspect, but Veronika must identify the victims and confirm that they have the correct killer.

How did this family man commit such horrific crimes? Was he working alone?

I really enjoyed how the storyline followed Veronika, as she is a strong female lead character. She is clever and determined but is also aware of possible dangers for her team.

I loved the relationship between the colleagues, and how this developed throughout the book. The way they stick together shows how teamwork should be.

There was plenty of mystery and suspense as the story unfolds and many possible ways the story could lead.

Although the story was mainly narrated by Veronika there were occasional chapters from a victim’s point of view, which also added even more suspense.

Overall, an intense, suspense thriller which chillingly shows how even a family man can be hiding disturbing secrets.

My Rating:

💜💜💜💜 /5
