I bought an E-Book copy of ‘The Dream Catcher’ by Elizabeth Coffey when it was on a free promotion.
This book follows Jonathan Knight who dreams about a girl being kidnapped near the lake and being kept against her will.
This isn’t unusual for Jonathan, but something about this dream terrifies him as his dreams are usually a look into the future. With a young daughter to protect he is eager to find the truth.
He goes to the police and reports his dream to DCI Ella Page, but they don’t really take him seriously.
When a teenager goes missing, there is an investigation lead by Ella. Her and her team start to deliberate over Jonathan’s story.
Is he a psychopath involved in the kidnap, or is he telling the truth?
Ella must discover the truth to solve the case before it is too late.
I really enjoyed this story and it had me gripped the whole way through. Not only do you want the young girl to be found in time, but you also doubt your own impressions of Jonathan.
I really enjoyed both the storyline and the characters, as even though it is about dreams that show the future it all seems so realistic, and it drew me in straight away.
I’ve seen this week that there is a prequel about Ella, and I will be looking to read sometime soon in the future, as I would love to hear more.
Overall, a gripping and intense thriller where your feelings regarding the main character are constantly changing.
My Rating:
💜💜💜💜💜 /5
This does sound delightfully intense. I keep thinking I’ve read a book by Coffey, but Goodreads begs to differ, so I guess I haven’t. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for her books. Excellent review!
