Girl Island – Kate Castle

I received a E-Book copy of ‘Girl Island’ by Kate Castle from the author in return for my honest review. This book is available to purchase now.

This YA adventure thriller follows Ellery who has grown up on a farm and since her dad died has taken on more responsibility on the farm.

She has obtained an athletics scholarship to a prestigious school and has been invited on a PE school trip. They are travelling to an island for two weeks of adventure.

An unexpected face from the past, a group of mean girls and the school nerd are amongst the passengers on the trip. They have boarded a sea plane for the final part of the journey, but as disaster strikes, they find themselves deserted on an island.

Soon it is just the girls left and they must work out how to survive, as peopleโ€™s true characters are revealed this becomes more difficult.

Will they be rescued? Will they all survive?

I found this to be a very exciting and thrilling read, as the girls characters developed the sense of danger increases. The situation they find themselves in is terrifying and what should have been a fun trip ends in disaster.

I didnโ€™t like to read about the bullying in the book, and although it is only from jealousy made me feel sad to think that this happens in real life too.

The teamwork between the girls, well some of the time, shows how strong all the young girls are in the face of something that could destroy anyone.

Overall, a thrilling YA adventure where a group of young girls stranded must fight for their survival.
